Das Brexit-Chaos geht weiter – und Boris Johnson geht offenkundig „all-in“: laut Insidern droht Johnson, Neuwahlen auszurufen, wenn ein weiteres Amendment (Zusatz-Abstimmung) von den Parlamentariern mehrheitlich angenommen wird, das eine Verlängerung der Ausstiegs-Phase (Brexit transition period) bis Ende des Jahres 2022 vorsieht. Dieses Amendment wurde von Nick Boles, einem von Johnson aus der Fraktion der Tories ausgeschlossenen Parlamentarier, eingebracht. Johnson selbst will die Ausstiegs-Phase bis zum Jahr 2020 abgeschlossen haben.
Johnson dagegen will die Abstimmungen um die Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB) in den nächsten drei Tagen durch das Parlament finalisieren lassen – sollte ihm das nicht gelingen, dürfte er laut Insidern Neuwahlen ausrufen. Die Opposition will mehr Zeit für das Prozedere haben.
